Attention[Anyone]

John was at the class room, he was looking at his watch and timed the arrivals of the students, precision was important, he then waited to see how long would the students take to arrive, he had already prepared a lesson on spying, he intended to see the attention span and how well can they observe the environment of the students, John was going to intentionally make the lesson as boring as possible and he was going to make subtle thing go on in the background. John then continued to wait for the students.

Checking her watch, Sadie smiled slightly as she noted that she was running early today. She liked being early to class, especially to the ones that didn't have assigned seating. Pushing the door to the classroom open, she walked over to her usual seat in the middle of the class.

"Good afternoon, Professor," the girl greeted the teacher, looking around the empty classroom for a moment before taking out a book and starting to read, eyes darting over the top of it to survey her surroundings every couple of seconds.

John looked at Sadie, and said "You have arrived, good, now let us see how much longer will it take for the rest of the class to arrive." John then said "Today the lesson will be on the history of espionage in the Cold War." after that John went back to look at his watch.

Oh that sounds absolutely riveting, thought Sadie as she looked up from her book when John spoke to her. The class was slowly filtering in, taking their seats and quietly chatting to each other as they waited for the class to start.

Well, on second thoughts, it could be interesting... she thought, putting her book away and grabbing her pen and notebook, waiting for John to start teaching.

"Three people late, twelve just on time and eight early, those whom are late,if you were actually working in the espionage business, you could be dead by now, no, get the 2 book to the top on your desk and open to page 31." John then started to play a power point explaining the situation between the west and the east after the Second World war, and at the same time, he took a piece of paper from his desk and threw it to the trash can.

Sadie attempted not to smirk at his comment about the late ones being dead. First thing you learned in this school - never be late. Opening her book, she skimmed the section that they were supposed to be reading before looking up at the powerpoint. As he talked, Sadie went back to reading, skipping ahead of what was being said. When he threw the paper, she looked up for a moment, pretending as if she suddenly found the powerpoint much more interesting than the book, wondering if he was planning on testing them today.

John continued to explain the situation, and once he was done, John closed the power point and said "All of you, you will now have a test on what was just shown to you, the test must first be decoded, the cipher is in your book." though at the last part, the part of the cipher was in the students book was a lie, he was also going to teach the students to trust nothing at face value today.

A soft groan rose up between the students at this. Just a soft one - the students all knew that without tests and surprise quizzes they wouldn't be able to pass and espionage would be a no. After all, espionage was a job that you really had to think on your feet in, and think quickly.

Sadie, who'd read ten pages ahead by now, flipped back to the one they were supposed to be on and frowned. There was no cipher. Was this a trick, or was she simply not understanding the cipher given. Tentatively she rose her hand. "Um, Sir...? There um...there is no cipher here," she said, rather worried about being made to look like a fool in front of her class but speaking her mind anyway.

"Of course there is a cipher, the page is the cipher." John lied, he had intentionally made it so that if they used the page as a cipher they would get incorrect answers, the correct cipher was the paper he threw away earlier, at the same time, John silent praised the girl a little for questioning the information that he was giving them.

"It can't be the cipher," Sadie insisted, aware of the 'what the hell are you doing, arguing with the teacher' looks her fellow students were giving her. "It can't be because with the cipher you gave us the answers come up wrong." She thought for a moment before saying, "The real cipher is on the sheet you threw away. You tried to keep us busy so we didn't notice when you threw it away but at the same time you were drawing our attention to it, otherwise you would have simply left it on your desk and disposed of it later. So what would be something you both wanted and didn't want us to have? Obvious - the cipher."

"You can search the trash if you want, or you can use the cipher that I told you to use." John said feigning anger at the accusation that Sadie gave him, and then he looked at the other students and said "Get back to your work now."

The students were by this point whispering and murmuring about the girl who was causing a scene. At John's command they instantly shut up and got back to work. Pffft, great spies they'd make, the blonde thought sarcastically as she got out of her seat, ignoring John's anger and heading to the trash. "You would only be angry if the paper was important," she told him as she came near. "If the paper was unimportant you would have casually shrugged it off." She went and fished the crumpled ball out of the trash before heading back to her seat.

John looked at Sadie, gave her a slight nod and then he looked at the other students and started to judged their chances at their current level in survival if they remained this gullible, "Captured in 3 days, dead in a week, if they are lucky, cover blow in 3 days, and barely getting out of the country."

Sadie gave a giggle as she listened to her teacher's remarks about the other students. It felt great that her challenging him had actually payed off like she'd been hoping and she now didn't have to face any ridicule from him in front of her classmates. With the new cipher she breezed through the test and got up again to hand in both test and cipher back to John.

Once test test were handed in John ripped apart all of the test except for the one that Sadie had given him, John then stood up and said "You don't become a spy by being trusting, Ms.Carlisle, you have a slight chance of survival, anyone else, you would all be dead or captured in a week, though if you are lucky you might just escape back to your home country."

Sadie wasn't one to gloat, but she couldn't help the rather proud smile that crept up onto her lips. A moment later she managed to straighten her face into innocent modesty. Inside she couldn't stop gloating though. That'll teach them to laugh at me and look at me like I'm nuts for not obeying orders..! Had she been more immature, she would have stuck her tongue out at the rest of the class. Thankfully, she refrained. "Thank you, Sir. Trust no one - the motto of spies and pirates alike." She couldn't help but grin as she said it, brushing her fringe from her eyes.

John looked at all the students once more, the look in his eye dared the students to try and object on what he just did to their work. "To survive, you must be paranoid, you must be prepared for anything that may happen, when you think you are safe, it is then you are most venerable." John looked around the class room one more time, he then sat back down on his chair and said "Do any of you have any questions? If you do, speak." at the same time John opened up a drawer and putted away the only test that he did not rip apart.
